William Guest was a member of both the Blue and Gray’sfootball and track & field teams during his tenure at KingsPoint.  During his senior season on the gridiron, Guest was adominant force on the team as the squad’s leadingrusher.  He averaged 89 yards per game and 6.5 yards percarry.  He scored the Mariners’ longest three touchdownsof the season with runs of 30, 65, and 93 yards.  The 93-yardtouchdown run is still an Academy record which was tied in 1988,almost 47 years later.

In addition, Guest held an Academy Record that stood for over 25years when he rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns on ninecarries against Wagner on November 17, 1951.  An avid throweron the track and field team, Guest competed in discus, javelin,shot put, and hammer.  In a dual meet against undefeatedHofstra during his senior year, Guest scored 14 of the team’s76 winning points following two first-place finishes, asecond-place performance, and a third-place finish.  He wonthe gold medal in the javelin in the NY State smaller collegemeet.  Guest registered a number of other athleticaccomplishments outside the varsity athletics realm. 

At Kings Point he was also a two-time heavyweight intramuralwrestling champion, and following two years of active duty in theNavy, Guest played semi-professional football in the North JerseyFootball League where he was a First Team All-Leagueselection.  He led his team to an undefeated leaguechampionship season in which he tied as the league’s leadingscorer.
