United States Merchant Marine Academy

Earle Bruce Carlsten ’62 was a standout wrestler throughout his career at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He finished his time at Kings Point with an incredible, nearly flawless record of 40-1, for a win-percentage of 97.5%. Carlsten wrestled during a time when there were no divisions, so he faced opponents from what are now Division I, Division II and Division III schools and universities. His only loss came his plebe season against a wrestler from the United States Naval Academy. Carlsten won the Metropolitan Conference Championship multiple times during his time in Blue & Gray.
