Capt. James Liebertz began his Kings Point career as head trackcoach in 1945.  Two months later, he became assistant AthleticDirector when Bill Reinhart was named Athletic Director.  OnJanuary 1, 1950 Capt. Liebertz was named Director of Athletics, aposition he held until July of 1972.

As the KP Athletics Director, Liebertz was responsible forincreasing the varsity athletic program from five sports to 16varsity teams.  He fought for and saw implemented the splitsea year program and also began the varsity awards dinner.  Asa track coach, Liebertz team’s dominated the Collegiate TrackConference Championships and won seven straight mile relays at Pennrelays.
