Johnny Garrett ’01 was the 2001 recipient of the Admiral Giles C. Stedman Trophy after a stellar career on the hardwood for the Mariners. He helped lead Kings Point to the “Sweet Sixteen” of the 2001 NCAA Tournament, which is the furthest any Mariner basketball team has ever gone in the national tourney in Academy history. Garrett was voted Skyline Conference Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons, earned multiple All-Region honors throughout his career, including NABC First-Team Atlantic District, MET Writers First-Team All-Star and ECAC Division III Metro Region First-Team All-Star, and was also named a Third Team All-American by D3Hoops after his First Class year. Upon induction, he ranks seventh all-time in program history with 1,468 points, is third with 201 steals and eighth with 335 assists.
