Louis Shoneff entered the Athletic Hall of Fame after playing aprimary role on the Academy’s first-ever varsity men’sbasketball team in the 1944-45 season,  The team finished witha 9-1 record, suffering their only loss by one point to Long IslandUniversity.  Shoneff led the team in scoring with 129 points;a 12.9 points per game average.  He scored 19 against rivalPennsylvania Military Academy in a 50-44 win for the Blue and Gray,establishing one of the inaugural Academy Records.  In thegame, the visiting team from PMC launched a second half scoringspree that closed Kings Point’s lead to five points. Shoneff then notched five consecutive baskets to move the Marinerssafely out in front en route to the win.
