United States Merchant Marine Academy

A four-year veteran with the Mariners’ football program,Dean Doe sent percussion waves through the gridiron during histenure.  It began with the first game of his rookie yearagainst rival Coast Guard, when a touchdown in the fourth quarterby Dean gave the Blue and Gray gridders a 10-7 victory.  As ajunior, Doe was the second leading rusher in NCAA Division-IIfootball after gaining 1,397 yards from scrimmage.  At theconclusion of his junior campaign, he became the then-AcademyAll-Time Leading rusher (2,527) and was named team MVP.

The following year he added 250 yards in his final season to seta new career mark of 2,777 rushing yards.  Doe ran for 150 ormore yards on four occasions and set a then-Academy rushing recordwith 254 against Hofstra University. He also set Academy recordssuch as longest non-scoring run from scrimmage (74), most passescaught in a game (13), and most receiving yardage gained in a game(184).
