United States Merchant Marine Academy

Lloyd Smith was a four-year letter winner for the Kings Pointtrack and field team.  Despite not coming out for the teamuntil his junior year, he was considered the best runner to everattend the Academy.  Smith earned All-America honors byplacing second at the NCAA Championships in 1965 with a time of4:05.6., a time which still stands as the Kings Point milerecord.  He also placed third in the prestigious ICAAAA race,the biggest meet in the east, in the mile.  Smith also setschool records in the half-mile and two-mile in is
