Janine (Wachter) Haas ’06 was the 2006 recipient of USMMA’s Julie A. Berke Award as the most outstanding female athlete in the senior class after her remarkable four-year career as a middle blocker and outside hitter on the Kings Point volleyball team. A two-year team captain and two-time Skyline Conference Player of the Year and All-Skyline First Team selection in 2004 and 2005, Janine helped lead the Mariners to four-straight appearances in the Skyline Championship Finals each of her four years at KP. During her senior season in 2005, she became only the third Mariner volleyball player to reach the 1,000-kill and 1,000-dig club for her career. At the time of her induction, Janine remains the program’s all-time career leader with 1,389 kills, while also ranking second in Academy history with 1,366 digs and third with 289 total blocks. Additionally, her 34 kills in a match in 2005 remain the program’s single-match record, while her 458 digs during the 2004 season are still the most in a single season in Academy history.
