United States Merchant Marine Academy

John McClain ’88 was a four-year starting midfielder and two-year captain of the Kings Point lacrosse team. McClain finished his career with 193 points, including 141 goals, which ranks tied for sixth all-time in the Academy record books at the time of his induction. He led the Mariners to two ECAC Regional Playoff appearances. McClain was ranked nationally for goals by a midfielder after his junior and senior seasons, including 48 tallies his First Class Year, which ranks tied for eighth in single-season history. He became the first Mariner ever selected to play in the annual USILA North-South Senior All Star Game in 1988. McClain also played basketball, baseball and volleyball for the Mariners, and was on the baseball and lacrosse teams during the same spring season his senior year.
