Thomas Lamm ’79 was a four-year starter for the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men’s soccer team from the fall of 1975 through 1978, a run that was bookended with ECAC Tournament appearances. In his plebe year of ’75, Lamm was part of a squad that earned an ECAC Co-Championship. Arguably one of the most prolific goal-scorers at the time for the Merchant Marine Academy, Lamm debuted for Kings Point with a two-goal, two-assist effort as the Mariners defeated Southampton by a 7-0 margin to kick-start what would be a 12-1-1 campaign. He scored two goals in the ECAC Championship Final to ensure a tie with Drew University. He was a three-time All-Metropolitan Conference selection in his Kings Point career, winning the laurels in all three of his final seasons. In his senior season, he was the 1978 Metropolitan Conference Co-Most Valuable Player, earning the distinction by leading the Mariners with ten goals and seven assists. Lamm finished his career with 37 goals and 22 assists, a program-best in goals and one off the program record for assists. At the time of induction, his 37 goals are the fourth-most in USMMA men’s soccer history.
