John Silva was a four-year starter on the offensive anddefensive lines for the Kings Point football team and was a captainand four-year letter winner for the Kings Point track team. He was named First Team Little All-America as a senior and receivedthe 1963 Adm. Stedman Trophy. 

Silva was also named one of the best collegiate tackles on theeast coast as a senior.  In track, Silva was the CollegiateTrack Conference shot put champion and was the Long IslandCollegiate Conference shot put and discus champion.  He setKings Point records in the shot put his junior and senioryears.
