Arthur Kleinschmidt is one of the original members of the Kings Point football program. In 1946, Kleinschmidt was recognized as one of the integral players of the defensive and offensive line for the Mariners. Under the direction of Head Coach Earl Brown, who was a former Notre Dame great, Kings Point’s football program jumped out to a great start with a 5-3 record against some of the top football playing institutions in the Northeast. Kleinschmidt paved the way for such Academy backfield stars as Bill Stein, Chuck Wise, Jack McCrane and Kings Point’s first football captain, Wilber Stein. The 1945 team registered wins over RPI Lafayette, and Boston College.
