Kristen (Hetsko) McCarthy ’09 is the USMMA women’s basketball program record holder for three-point field goal percentage and total three-point field goals made at the time of her induction. She was the Academy’s Julie A. Berke Rookie of the Year in 2006 and went on to win most outstanding female senior athlete honors as the recipient of the Julie A. Berke Trophy in 2009. In addition to her three-point shooting records, Kristen also ranks fifth all-time in program history in three categories – total field goals made, free throw percentage and scoring with 1,219 points, as she is one of just six Mariners to eclipse the 1,000-point mark. During her four-year career on the hardwood with the Blue & Gray, the first two of which spent in Skyline Conference before moving to the Landmark Conference, Kristen helped lead the Mariners to three winning seasons and was a Team Captain and the Team Most Valuable Player during her First Class year.
