A dual-sport athlete, Dreu Beers ’95 was a key contributor to both the USMMA football and wrestling teams. The running back earned the Freedom Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year Award in 1993 and also landed on the All-Freedom First Team after a senior season in which he compiled 1,322 rushing yards. Beers ranked 10th among all NCAA Division III running backs in 1993 with 146.9 rushing yards per game and set Academy records for carries in a game (43) and career (280) and touchdowns in a single season (14). Throughout his career, he compiled 1,874 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns. For his athletic achievements, Dreu was presented the Admiral Giles C. Stedman Trophy his senior year, which is presented to a graduating first class male athlete for demonstrated athletic excellence throughout their career at USMMA as selected by a committee appointed by the Superintendent. The trophy signifies the highest in achievement, sportsmanship and general excellence in athletics.
