United States Merchant Marine Academy

Ralph Ortolano Sr. was a four-year letter winner on the rifle and pistol teams and a two-year letter-winner on the cheerleading squad.  He was named an All-American for rifle in in 1952 and1953, as well as for pistol from 1952-1954; making him the first Kings Pointer to be named All-America in two different sports. 

Ortolano was first in the nation in pistol from 1952-1954 and was second in the nation in rifle in 1953.  He served as captain of both the rifle and pistol teams and set range records in both sports in 1950.
