Jay Carpenter ’08 was a four-year member of the swimming & diving team at Kings Point and was the 2008 recipient of the Admiral Giles C. Stedman Trophy as the most outstanding male senior athlete. Carpenter qualified for and competed in the NCAA National Championships each of his last three seasons and finished as high as third place in the country in the breaststroke in 2006. He earned distinction as an All-American seven times throughout his career, including twice while hampered by leg injuries. Jay helped lead the Mariners to top-30 finishes at NCAAs all three times he represented the Blue & Gray on the national stage and held eight Academy records upon graduation – having broken or re-broken team, pool and conference records a total of 39 times. He was a three-time Skyline Conference Swimmer of the Year and earned regional Swimmer of the Year honors from both the ECAC and the Metropolitan Conference.
