United States Merchant Marine Academy

Brad Plowman ’78 was a four-year starter on defense for the Kings Point football team and was part of a linebacking corps that is considered one of the greatest in Academy History. Plowman was a three-time All-Metropolitan Conference Team selection throughout his career as an outside linebacker and he was also named a Preseason All-American. He played on two nationally-ranked defenses in 1975 and 1976, and the 1976 team that went 8-1 was ranked as high as fifth in the national polls. No other team in Academy history had as good a three-year record as the Mariners did in Plowman’s first three seasons (21-6). Plowman earned numerous ECAC Team of the Week honors throughout his career and also served as a Team Captain his First Class year.
