United States Merchant Marine Academy

In 1964 Stephen Schmidt was named Kings Point’s annualAdm. Stedman Trophy winner as the Mariners’ Most OutstandingAthlete.  He was a four-year letter winner for theAcademy’s wrestling team, and served as the Blue andGray’s co-captain in 1963-64.

He received the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Wrestling Award forhis outstanding ability during three of his four years.  In  1964 Schmidt competed against 43 schools in the CaseInstitute of Technology Tournament in Cleveland, one of the biggestwrestling meets in the country; placing first in his weight classat the tournament.
