United States Merchant Marine Academy

Al Wind was a four-year letter winner with the Kings Pointbasketball team and a two-year letter winner with the KP baseballteam.  On the hardwood, he served as co-captain of the 1956-57squad and was named a First Team Tri-State Collegiate BasketballAll-Star as well as First Team All-Long Island.  During hisbasketball career he set Academy marks for most points scored in afour-year career (949), consecutive free throws made in a season,and the most points scored in O’Hara Hall in a single game(41).  He graduated holding the record for most free throwsattempted in a game (20) and places 14^th on the Marinerall-time scoring list.  Wind was also named Second TeamAll-Long Island as a sophomore and as a junior.  On thediamond, he was named to the All-Kinckerbocker Conference Team in1954.
