Women’s Swimming & Diving Earns 18 Top-Eight Finishes At TCNJ Invite

EWING, N.J. (Nov. 24, 2024) – The USMMA women's swimming & diving took part in the three-day TCNJ Invitational this past weekend. The Mariners came in fourth place out of the field of seven teams that competed with 391.5 points. The host Lions won the meet with 1,166 team points.
 
The Mariners had a total of 18 top-eight finishes at the event, including a team-best four in individual races by junior Jessica Felske (East Troy, Wis.). Also picking up multiple top-eight finishes on the weekend were freshmen Georgia Magditch (Allentown Pa.) and Megan Hu (Syosset, N.Y.) with three each and sophomore Isabel Lunsford (Burnet, Texas) with two.

On Friday:
  • The 200 freestyle relay team of Lunsford, Felske, senior Haley Agin (Roswell, Ga.) and freshman Haley Martin (Murrieta, Calif.) came in sixth with a time of 1:43.47
  • Felske placed fifth in the 50 free in 25.72
  • The 400 medley relay team of Magditch, Felske, Hu and Agin came in seventh in 4:11.31 
On Saturday:
  • The 200 medley relay team of Lunsford, Felske, Agin and Martin placed fifth in 1:53.61.
  • Magditch came in third place in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:52.25
  • Lunsford placed fifth in the 200 free in 1:59.89
  • Hu came in fifth (1:09.13) and Felske came in seventh (1:09.27) in the 100 breaststroke 
On Sunday:
  • Magditch placed fourth in the 200 backstroke in 2:12.25
  • Felske came in seventh (56.30) and Lunsford placed eighth (56.31) in the 100 free
  • Three Mariners finished back-to-back-to-back in sixth (Hu in 2:32.57), seventh (Magditch in 2:32.85) and eighth (Felske in 2:39.47) in the 200 breast
  • Hu placed sixth in the 200 fly with a time of 2:18.77
  • The 400 free relay team of Agin, Felske, Lunsford and Hu touched in fourth in 3:44.69
  • In exhibition three-meter diving action (six dives), sophomore Victoria Crofford (Fairfax, Va.) came in third place and freshman Sydney Greene (Porter Ranch, Calif.) placed fourth 
Magditch was named the "Mariner of the Meet," awarded based on a team vote to an individual for their performance and contribution to the team.
 
Up next, the Mariners will compete in a home dual-meet against Stevens Institute on Saturday, Dec. 7, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Sue Petersen Lubow Pool.
