KINGS POINT, N.Y. (March 12, 2025) – The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced the March Top-25 Coaches Poll this past Friday and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's team was featured at #24 in the nation. Additionally, the Mariners ranked ninth in the Northeast-North Region.

The recognition comes after the Mariners concluded the regular season strong with a second-place showing at the NJAC Championships in mid-February, in which they finished ahead of then-#20 Salisbury. The Mariners recorded eight NCAA cuts, five academy records and one conference record over the four-day championship event, and then had one more program record fall at the NYU Winter Invite a week later.
Junior diver
Thomas Cable (Litchfield Park, Ariz.) qualified for the NCAA National Championships and will represent Kings Point for the third-straight season down at the four-day event beginning next week. Cable along with senior
Brendan Griffiths (Easton, Pa.) both competed at the NCAA Regional Diving Championships just under two weeks ago.
The USMMA men boasted a regular season dual-meet record of 7-1 and were 5-0 in Skyline Conference action. The Mariners captured their 26th-consecutive conference title (23rd under head coach
Commander Sean M. Tedesco) when they won the Skyline Championship in late January.
The 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet will be held from Wednesday, March 19 until Saturday, March 22, down at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. Cable's two days of diving will take place on Wednesday for the three-meter dive and on Friday, March 21, for the one-meter dive. He will look to repeat as an All-American on both boards.
A full preview of the NCAA Championship Meet will be posted on
www.USMMASports.com next week.
