Konnor Bye (Liberty Hill, Texas) broke a 38-year old school record in the triple jump to lead the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's track and field team at the Wagner Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Bye etched his name into the Mariner record books, taking first in the triple jump with a leap of 14.01m (45' 11.5") to break the previous mark of 13.74m (45' 01") held by Joe Rella since 1987. The Liberty Hill, Texas native followed it up with a second-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.81 (22' 4"). Â

William Gornell (Southlake, Texas) posted a top-10 finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.09. Freshmen
Holden Collier (Mount Vernon, Wash.) finished 12th with a time of 54.95, while classmate
Colin Robertson (Milford, Mich.) crossed the finish line in 13th in 54.98.

Garrett Rees (Rising Sun, Md.),
Easton Millard (Scottsdale, Ariz.), and
Nicholas Troiano (Burlington Flats, N.Y.) all posted top-10 finishes and registered personal records in the shot put. Rees finished seventh with a throw of 11.59m (38' 25"), while Millard and Troiano unloaded throws of 11.22m (36' 9.75") and 10.89m (35' 8.75"), finishing eighth and ninth.
