1/17/2025 7:19:00 PM

NEW YORK (Jan. 17, 2025) – For the second time this season, USMMA men's track & field senior Konnor Bye (Liberty Hill, Texas) has broken an Academy indoor record, as he bested the old mark in the long jump on Friday to lead the Mariners at the Ramapo Season Opener at the world-famous Armory Track & Field Center in Manhattan.

Meet Links The old record was 6.82m set back in 2012 by Chris Cook '15. Bye actually set a new record twice over his six attempts, as his first leap was good for 6.88m, but his fifth jump stood as his best, 6.94 (22' 9.25"). He finished in fifth place at the event, first among DIII jumpers, and his mark wound up ranking him 26th in the nation in the event.

Senior Michael Lyon (Jacksonville, Fla.) produced a season-best time in the one-mile run, as he crossed the finish line in 4:54.42. Classmate Alex Burita (Annandale, Va.) came in 25th place in the same event with a time of 4:38.95.

A pair of freshmen set new personal-best times throughout the afternoon. Holden Collier (Mount Vernon, Wash.) hit a PR in the 200m dash (24.24) and Rory McWeeney (Portland, Ore.) had his best collegiate finish thus far in the 3000m (10:58.82).

Up next, the Mariners will take part in the Fastrack National Invite back at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Center in Staten Island on Friday, Feb. 7. Action is set to get underway at 12-noon.
