KINGS POINT, N.Y. (May 30, 2025) – On Friday, USMMA baseball freshman Luke Kruer (Sellersburg, Ind.) was chosen as the program's first-ever Eastern College Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year for the 2025 season. Additionally, he and sophomore Tommy Chiappetti (Buckeye, Ariz.) were both selected to the All-ECAC Team.
Kruer was Kings Point's starting left fielder and fourth conference Rookie of the Year in school history. The 2025 All-Skyline First Team selection led the Blue and Gray and the Skyline with 52 RBIs and 10 home runs. He unloaded 10 homers during the 2025 season, which was the second most in single-season history. Kruer, who also earned ABCA First Team All-Region and All-Region 3 Second Team outfield honors, was also ranked in the top ten statistically in four conference categories, finishing second in steals (25), third in slugging percentage (.662), fifth in OPS (1.132), and 10th in hits (55).
Chiappetti, who also earned D3Baseball.com All-Region 3 Third Team accolades as a utility, was outstanding for Kings Point in the outfield and on the mound in 2025, tying for fifth in the conference in steals (18), ranking sixth in runs scored (48), and tying for sixth in hits (56). He was also third in the Skyline in ERA (2.61), sixth in batting average allowed (.240), and tied for 10th in wins (4). Like Kruer, he earned First Team All-Skyline honors.

Both Kruer and Chiappetti helped lead the Mariners to the program's fourth-straight 20-win season and 10th overall, as they finished the campaign 28-15, including a school record 16 conference wins to earn the #1 seed in the Skyline Championship Tournament.
