WATERVILLE, Maine (March 2, 2024) – A trio of Mariner divers produced top-five finishes this past weekend at the NCAA Region 3 Diving Championships to earn spots at the upcoming NCAA DIII National Championship Meet later this month! Sophomore
Thomas Cable (Litchfield Park, Ariz.), senior
Devin Dyer (Brandon, Fla.) and junior
Brendan Griffiths (Easton, Pa.) will join four of their teammates to form the USMMA contingent headed down to Nationals in Greensboro, N.C., later this month.

Cable was the individual regional champion in both the three-meter dive (510.65) on Friday and the one-meter dive (494.55) on Saturday.

Dyer placed second in the three-meter event with a score of 488.90 and was fourth in the one-meter after producing 441.60 points.
Â
Griffiths came in fourth place on Friday in the three-meter (443.20) and was right behind Dyer in fifth on Saturday in the one-meter event (428.05).

As a team, the Mariners came in first place out of the 10 teams that scored with a total of 101 points. Tufts University was behind USMMA in second place with 83 points.

Merchant Marine accounts for half of the divers selected for nationals from the region, and 15% of all of the divers across the country headed to NCAAs.

Additionally, senior
Layne Andersen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) closed out her career with her second-straight appearance at the NCAA Diving Regional Championship Meet.
