Men’s Swim & Dive Claims 171-91 Road Vicotry Over Stevens

HOBOKEN, N.J. (Dec.  6, 2025) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's swimming & diving team travel to The Garden State on Saturday to face non-conference opponent Stevens and came away with a 171-91 victory over the Ducks. The win improved the Mariners' record to 6-0 on the season, while Stevens fell to 0-3 in defeat.
 
Meet Link USMMA won 12 of the 14 events on the day, with numerous Mariners earning multiple victories including sophomore Max Fedorenko (Chicago, Ill.) with four – the 50 freestyle (21.85) and the 100 free (47.86) individually, and the 200 medley relay (1:34.71) and 400 free relay (3:14.40) as part of relay teams.

Senior Teague Mayer (Boulder, Colo.) and freshman Nicholas Hardt (Friendswood, Texas) both picked up two individual wins on the day, with Mayer touching first in the 100 backstroke (53.89) and the 200 individual medley (1:59.88, a season-best by two seconds) and Hardt triumphing in the 200 free (1:48.49) and 200 butterfly (2:01.73).
 
Also claiming two victories on the day was sophomore John Frank (Highland, Md.) as part of the 200 MR to start the race (1:34.71) and the 100 breaststroke (59.53), as well as freshman Keanne Hernandez (Deer Park, N.Y.) on the two relay teams, the MR and the 400 free relay (3:14.40) and junior Ryan Lester (Heath, Texas), individually in the 1000 free (10:14.52) and as part of the 400 FR along with Hernandez, classmate Jason Equiano (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Fedorenko.
 
Junior Luke Dankert (Grand Island, Neb.) won the 200 breast in 2:12.76 and sophomore Ryan McOsker (Fredericksburg, Va.) led off the triumphant 200 medley relay to round out KP's wins on the day.
 
Along with Mayer's season- best in the 200 IM, there were three other Mariners who performed their best times of the 2025-26 campaign thus far – sophomore Brendan Baser (Cary, Ill.) in the 1000 free by 11 seconds (10:19.00) for a third-place finish, junior Abraham Shim (Rockwall, Texas) also in the 1000 free by seven seconds (10:27.42), good for a fourth-place finish and senior Matthew Wachendorfer (Greensboro, N.C.) in the 100 back by one second (56.19).
 
The "Mariner of the Meet" honors, awarded based on a team vote to an individual for their performance and contribution to the team, went to Hardt.
 
The Mariners return to action this coming Thursday night, Dec. 11, when they host Division II opponent, nearby Adelphi University. The first event is set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Sue Petersen Lubow Pool.
