MILTON, N.Y. (Oct. 13, 2024) – The USMMA women's cross country team took home the first place trophy at the MSMC Knight Invitational, hosted by Skyline Conference opponent Mount St. Mary College up at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome on Sunday. All five of the Mariner runners finished in the top-17, as they earned 32 points as a team, well ahead of the second place host Knights, who had 62 points.

Senior
Katherine Kerchner (Reading, Pa.) was the individual champion in the 6K race, as she broke the tape in 25:45.2. Sophomore
Victoria Crofford (Fairfax, Va.) placed third in 26:56.0 and freshman
Morgan Doll (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) was sixth with a time of 29:12.9.
Rounding out the Merchant Marine runners and scorers were sophomore
Katie Bray (Trussville, Ala.) in 13th in 31:40.2 and classmate
Madison Monkevich (Gaithersburg, Md.), who crossed in 18th place (but counted as just 15 team points) with a time of 32:43.8.
The Mariners will take part in the Connecticut College Invitational next weekend up at Stenger Farm Park in Waterford, Conn. The starting gun of the 5K race is scheduled to go off at 10 a.m.
