STONY BROOK, N.Y. (August 30, 2025) - The U.S. Merchant Marine women's cross country team began their 2025 season at the Stony Brook Season Opener on Saturday morning. The Mariners were the only D3 squad in the field of seven teams, with the other six schools participating being from Division 1.

Plebe Eleanor Romeo (Carson City, Nev.) secured the top time for the Blue and Gray, coming across with a time of 16:57.70, and classmate Lili Telvi (Southampton, N.Y.) followed behind in 17:57.80. Sophomore Karley Rush (Trinity, Fla.) crossed with a time of 20:35.00, and junior Katie Bray (Trussville, Ala.) followed after in 21:16.60.
The Mariners return to competition next Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Purchase College Invitational at 10:30 a.m.
