(April 27, 2026) – The #3-seed U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's tennis team defeated visiting #6-seed Mount St. Mary College, 4-0, in a 2026 Skyline Championship first round matchup at the Brooks Stadium Courts on Monday. The victory improved the Mariners' record to 9-4, as they advance to the semifinals on Wednesday at #2-seed Farmingdale State. The Knights close out their season with a 6-11 record.

In singles action, the #6 match that featured freshman
Travis Filer (Conroe, Texas) finished first with another point for the good guys after a 6-0, 6-0 shutout win. Another 6-0, 6-0 triumph at #1 by Mathews put the Mariners on the brink of clinching the win.

Alex Lewis (Williamsburg, Va.) closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at #5. Once the match was clinched, all other flights halted play, unfinished.
