NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Jan. 24, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's track & field team competed Saturday afternoon at the William Sutherland Invitational hosted by Southern Connecticut State at James Moore Field House. The Mariners turned in a strong slate of performances, highlighted by multiple top-10 finishes and a collection of personal bests.

Freshman Eleanor Romeo (Carson City, Nev.) led the Blue and Gray with a pair of top 10 finishes, crossing the finish line in second in the women's mile with a personal-best time of 5:34.15 and added a fifth-place finish in the women's 800 meters, recording another PR of 2:35.44. Freshman Lili Telvi (Southampton, N.Y.) followed with a seventh-place finish in the women's mile, clocking a personal-best time of 5:54.50, and also recorded a PR of 2:43.05 in the women's 800 meters.
In the sprint events, freshman Reagan Turman (San Antonio, Texas) turned in a strong all-around day, highlighted by a seventh-place finish and personal-best time of 28.95 in the women's 200 meters. Turman also recorded additional personal bests in the 55 meters (8.03) and 400 meters (1:10.09). Sophomore Morgan Doll (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) added to the sprint effort with a ninth-place finish in the women's 400 meters, posting a time of 1:06.16.
Senior Stephanie Schatzman (Virginia Beach, Va.) earned a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 9.40 meters (30' 10.25"). Schatzman also posted personal bests in the 200 meters (30.93) and 55-meter hurdles (11.30) on the day.
Merchant Marine returns to competition on Friday, Feb. 6, at the Fastrack National Invite at noon.
