Romeo Earns Track & Rookie of the Year Honors As Mariners Finish Second At Skyline Championships

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (April 26, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's track & field team finished second at the 2026 Skyline Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Farmingdale State. The Mariners finished with 217 points, falling to Farmingdale State by 23 points, who captured the Skyline Championship with 240 points.

Freshman Eleanor Romeo (Carson City, Nev.) took home two major awards, earning Skyline Track and Rookie of the Year honors. Four Mariners registered first-place finishes in their respective events, and the Blue and Gray totaled nine overall on the day.

Romeo delivered a dominant championship performance for KP, grabbing four first-place finishes in the women's 800 meters, 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters, and 3,000 meter steeplechase with times of 2:37.80, 5:15.51, 20:49.90, and 12:35.04.

Sophomore Morgan Doll (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) added two first-place finishes in the 100 meter and 400 meter hurdles with times of 16.96 and 1:13.26. Classmate Jayme Santasiero (Houston, Texas) earned first-place in the 100 meters with a personal best time of 13.19 and crossed the finish line in first in the 200 meters with a time of 27.56.

Sophomore Jasmine Predum (Bakersfield, Calif.) picked up a first-place finish in the women's pole vault with a winning mark of 2.66m (8' 8.75").

Kings Point had strong efforts in the distance events with freshman Lili Telvi (Southampton, N.Y.) posting four top-five finishes with a second-place finish in the 5,000 meters and 3,000 meter steeplechase with times of 21:27.87 and 13:20.49, and third in the 800 meters and 1,500 meters with times of 2:44.33 and 5:32.05. Freshman Harmony Taylor (Morgantown, Ky.) added a third-place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a personal best time of 22:00.23 and a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:08.92. Sophomore Lauren Enterline (Harrisburg, Pa.) placed fifth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:43.04.

USMMA's relay teams delivered key points at the meet, highlighted by a second-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay, where the quartet of Doll, sophomore Lily Cary (Plymouth, Minn.), freshman Caroline Dozier (Southampton, N.J.), and Santasiero clocked in with a time of 4:58.08. The Mariners also added a third-place finish in the 4x100 meter relay behind Doll, Santasiero, Dozier, and Predum with a time of 56.21.

Junior Jordan Washington (Tampa, Fla.) led the throwers with a second-place finish in the hammer with a 32.77m (107' 6") and third and fourth in the discus and shot put with tosses of 30.25m (99' 3") and 9.12m (29' 11.25"). She also finished sixth in the javelin with a toss of 18.22m (59' 9").

Doll and Santasiero each cleared 1.35m (4' 5") in the women's high jump, both finishing third.

Kings Point returns to competition on Thursday, May 7, at the West Point Twilight hosted by the Army in West Point, N.Y.
