Mariners Sweep Drew On The Road

MADISON, N.J. (Sept. 17, 2025) – The USMMA women's volleyball team earned a straight-set road win at Drew on Wednesday night, 3-0 (25-22, 28-26, 27-25), at Baldwin Gym. With the victory, the Mariners improve to 6-3, while the Rangers fall to 1-6.
 
Match Link Sophomore Carly Soboloski (Peoria, Ariz.) led the way with a double-double, recording 11 kills and 10 digs to go along with four aces. Junior Erin Stillinger (Keller, Texas) followed with eight kills, two aces, and four blocks. Senior libero Stephanie Schatzman (Virginia Beach, Va.) paced the defense with 20 digs and added an ace, while freshman Emma Borlie (Baltimore, Md.) handed out 25 assists and hit .333 on two kills.
 
Sophomore Maddie Mayer (Centennial, Colo.) finished with five kills and five blocks (two solo) and classmate Jenny Dyke (Grand Rapids, Mich.) chipped in two kills and two blocks.
 
Set 1 – USMMA 25, Drew 22: After Drew opened 2–0, the Mariners answered with a 9–2 stretch highlighted by kills from Soboloski, Stillinger and Douglas for a 13–5 advantage. The Rangers rallied to even the frame at 20–20, but USMMA closed on a 5–2 run as Mayer's block gave set point and her ace sealed the opener, 25–22.
 
Set 2 – USMMA 28, Drew 26: USMMA built a 10–6 lead behind a Soboloski ace and Douglas kill before Drew surged ahead, 21–18, on a string of service aces. The Mariners steadied late—Branum and Soboloski produced key side-outs, Mayer's block pushed it to 27–26, and an error closed the set, 28–26.
 
Set 3 – USMMA 27, Drew 25: A 5–2 start with kills from Dyke and Stillinger set the tone, but Drew answered to lead 21–18. USMMA responded with timely swings from Douglas and Soboloski to draw level at 22–22, then finished it off as a service error made it 26–25 and a Stillinger ace ended the match, 27–25.
 
Team Statistics: USMMA totaled 35 kills, 33 assists, 10 aces, 61 digs and 7.0 total blocks, hitting .109. Drew finished with 38 kills, 34 assists, 9 aces, 64 digs and 0.0 blocks, hitting .087.
 
Drew Leaders: Emily Shirk led the Rangers with 11 kills, while Inaya Stanford added five and Lindsey Millis tallied four. Alyssa Rachwal notched 31 assists and two aces, and libero Aidyn Stone collected a team-high 20 digs.
 
Next Up: USMMA returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 20, with a road tri-match at Montclair State where they will take on Saint Elizabeth at 2 p.m. and the host Red Hawks at 4 p.m.
