MONTCLAIR, N.J. (Sept. 20, 2025) – The USMMA women's volleyball team split a tri-match on Saturday at Montclair State's Panzer Athletic Center, sweeping Saint Elizabeth, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 26-24), before falling to the host Red Hawks, 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 14-25, 17-25). The Mariners move to 7-4 on the season; Saint Elizabeth is 4-9 and Montclair State improves to 8-2.

Carly Soboloski (Bayville, N.J.) posted another double-double against Saint Elizabeth with 11 kills and 14 digs, while classmate
Emma Borlie (Baltimore, Md.) recorded one as well with 29 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore
Sydney Douglas (Herndon, Va.) added 11 kills, junior
Erin Stillinger (Keller, Texas) finished with six kills and two aces, and sophomore
Maddie Mayer (Centennial, Colo.) chipped in seven kills. Senior libero

Set 1 vs. Saint Elizabeth - USMMA 25-23: The Mariners built a 17-9 cushion on multiple connections from Borlie to Douglas and Stillinger. Saint Elizabeth closed to 24-23 behind a late service run, but a service error ended the set in USMMA's favor.

Set 2 vs. Saint Elizabeth - USMMA 25-20: A Soboloski service ace and a Douglas kill helped push the margin to 12-9. After the Eagles cut it to 16-15, USMMA answered with a 4-0 spurt keyed by a Stillinger ace and Douglas kill and closed it out, 25-20.

Set 3 vs. Saint Elizabeth - USMMA 26-24: Saint Elizabeth led 9-4 early, but the Mariners flipped it with a 9-0 surge featuring Mayer at the net and a Douglas ace to go up 13-9. The Eagles later took a 21-17 edge; USMMA responded with timely sideouts and kills from Soboloski, Mayer and Douglas, before Douglas ended the sweep at 26-24.

Saint Elizabeth leaders: Sienna Volpe led the Eagles with eight kills and 10 digs, while Dadlyna Louis and Marissa Heimbaugh added six and five kills, respectively. Setter Erynn Menaling Trajano served five aces and dished out 16 assists as SEU finished with eight aces and three total blocks.

Borlie notched her second double-double of the day against Montclair State with 38 assists and 11 digs, while Soboloski produced 17 kills and 10 digs. Douglas added 10 kills and eight digs, Mayer tallied eight kills and two blocks, and Schatzman paced the back row with a match-high 25 digs. USMMA finished with 46 kills, 43 assists, four aces and 63 digs.

Set 1 vs. Montclair State - USMMA 25-22: The Mariners turned a 6-6 tie into a 15-7 lead during a 9-1 run fueled by Soboloski and Dyke. The Red Hawks closed to 24-22, but a Soboloski termination sealed the opener.

Set 2 vs. Montclair State - MSU 25-22: USMMA led 10-6 after back-to-back Schatzman aces and a Douglas kill, but MSU answered with a 13-2 stretch highlighted by multiple Bryn Bautista kills and aces to swing the frame, 25-22.

Set 3 vs. Montclair State - MSU 25-14: A 5-3 Red Hawk lead ballooned on two service aces and a pair of Camryn Muuss kills as the hosts controlled the set the rest of the way.

Set 4 vs. Montclair State - MSU 25-17: Montclair raced out 7-2 and never trailed. USMMA pulled within 22-16 behind Douglas and Soboloski late, but the Red Hawks closed it out, 25-17.

Montclair State leaders: Muuss led all hitters with 17 kills (.333), while Bautista added nine kills and a match-high six aces. Sofia DiProfio and Breanna Craig chipped in seven kills apiece, setter Lucy Cornelius handed out 35 assists with three aces, and libero Emma Hatcher recorded a team-high 18 digs. MSU finished with 46 kills, 41 assists, 13 aces and 66 digs.

The Mariners return to action next Saturday, Sept. 27, when they travel up to New Paltz to take on Kean University at 1:15 p.m. and the host Hawks at 5:45 p.m.
