Mariners Pitch A Shutout Victory On The Road At Old Westbury As Jablonowski Reaches 200-Career Point Plateau

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (April 5, 2025) – The USMMA women's lacrosse team defeated Skyline Conference opponent Old Westbury, 23-0, on the road on Saturday at OW's Panther Park. The Mariners' fourth-straight victory improves their record to 6-2 (3-0 Skyline), while the Panthers fall to 2-4 (1-2 Skyline) after suffering the loss.

Game Link Senior Lauren Jablonowski (Levittown, N.Y.) recorded her third-straight 10-point game, and with her fourth point of the day in the first quarter she became just the third Mariner in program history to reach the 200-point plateau for her career. She finished the game with four goals and six assists and now has 114 goals and 92 assists over her four seasons. The senior also secured four draw controls and four ground balls.

Classmate Gianna Russo (Wake Forest, N.C.) was right behind with nine points on five goals and four assists, while also scooping up seven a game-high seven GBs. Freshman Amber Fields (St. Augustine, Fla.) had a breakout performance with seven points, as she scored six times and dished out one helper.

Four other Mariners had multi-point contests - sophomore Leslie Wysong (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) with four points (1G, 3A), sophomore Ainsley Carlon (Gilbert, Ariz.) and freshman Lana Hayes (Toms River, N.J.) with three points each (both with 2G & 1A) and freshman Reese Ripley (Denver, Colo.) with two goals. Ripley led all players with eight draw controls, while she and Wysong tied Jablonowski with four ground balls each. Junior defender Nicole Nagengast (Seaford, N.Y.) also got on the scoresheet with a goal, her first since her plebe season.

The Mariners raced out to a 13-0 lead after the first quarter to take full control of the game. They out-shot the Panthers, 29-1 on the day, with OW's lone shot going on goal, but was turned aside by junior goalie Karianna Eagle (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J.), who earned the one-save shutout.

Eagle's counterpart for Old Westbury, junior Jara Gonzalez, made six saves in the losing effort.

The Mariners are back in action on Wednesday night, April 9, when they travel out to Suffolk County to take on St. Joseph's-Long Island. Opening draw is set for 6 p.m. at the Golden Eagles' Danzi Stadium.
