KINGS POINT, N.Y. (March 8, 2025) – The USMMA men's lacrosse team made it three-straight wins to start the year as they defeated visiting Drew University, 17-7, in the home-opener at Brooks Stadium on Saturday. The Mariners are now 3-0 on the young season, while they drop the Rangers' record to 3-2.

Two players celebrated their 100-career point milestone on Saturday, as senior
Michael Emerick (Damascus, Md.) scored twice in the second quarter to reach 100 and junior
Owen Barcus (Annapolis, Md.) recorded a goal and an assist in the first quarter and then had a helper in the third to also join the club. Emerick finished with five points on four goals and one assist, while Barcus tied for the game-high with six points on two goals and four assists.
Senior
Jack Collins (Memphis, Tenn.) tied his career-high with six goals. Sophomore midfielder
Owen Behr (Vestavia Hills, Ala.) notched five points (three goals and two helpers), while also have a strong game defensively with two caused turnovers and three ground balls. Four other Mariners found the scoresheet, as junior
Jack DeTommaso (Massapequa, N.Y.) returned to the lineup from Sea and had three points (2G, 1A), freshman
Landon Locke (Midlothian, Va.) scored once and sophomore
William Badeer (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and freshman
Maxwell Perkins (Houston, Texas) both had one assist apiece.
Like Behr, freshman
William Schipfer (Colorado Springs, Colo.) also scooped up three GBs, as did classmate
Tucker Kuhn (Towson, Md.), who finished the day 5-for-9 from the face-off X. Senior
Chris Neuman (South Huntington, N.Y.) also won five FOs on the day. In net, sophomore
Julian Garcia (Lakeway, Texas) made nine saves in over 52 minutes to earn the victory between the pipes.
For Drew, senior Mike DeMayo tallied a team-best five points with three goals and two assists. Graduate student Matt Giordano and freshman Nick Carabetta both also recorded multi-point games, as Giordano scored three times and Carabetta registered two assists. Sophomore face-off man Jake Rainero won 16-of-27 draws and picked up a game-high eight ground balls and junior Cole Kirker led all players in the game with three caused turnovers. The Rangers' sophomore goalie Joe Barnish made 11 saves in the losing effort.
The Mariners scored the first four goals of the game before Drew called a timeout and answered back with three-straight into the early part of the second quarter. Merchant Marine dominated from then on, though, as they scored five consecutive goals before the Rangers scored the final tally of the half late and it was 9-4 in favor of KP going into the halftime break.
The two teams traded early goals in the first five minutes of the third quarter before the Mariners put the game away with seven-straight that made it 17-5.
USMMA was nearly perfect on their clear game, going 21-for-23. The Mariners also had a healthy advantage over the visitors in shots, 42-24, including a 31-16 lead in shots on goal. Drew cashed in on 3-of-4 man-up opportunities, while hold Kings Point scoreless on the man advantage in two chances.
Up next, the Mariners will host Salve Regina this coming Tuesday, March 11, beginning at 3 p.m. at Brooks Stadium.
