HOBOKEN, N.J. (Dec. 6, 2025) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's swimming & diving team lost on the road at Stevens Institute on Saturday, 171-88, at the Ducks' DeBaun Aquatic Center. The defeat drops the Mariners' record to 5-1, while Stevens improves to 1-3 with the victory.

Jessica Felske (East Troy, Wis.) and freshman
Natalie Scafetta (Menlo Park, Calif.) both earned two victories apiece, as Felske touched first in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.50, a season-best) and the 200 breast (2:36.06) and Scafetta was triumphant in the 200 backstroke (2:16.94) and the 200 individual medley (2:19.86, a season-best by four seconds).

Three other Mariners also recorded season-bests on the day – freshman
Bryony Shipe (Ford City, Pa.) in the 1000 free by 11 seconds (11:32.12) and the 500 free by two seconds (5:42.46), both good for second place in the events, as well as freshman
Natalie Woodman (Langhorne, Pa.) in the 50 free (26.58) and sophomore
Molly O'Brien (Social Circle, Ga.) in the 100 free (1:00.80).

The "Mariner of the Meet" honors, awarded based on a team vote to an individual for their performance and contribution to the team, went to Shipe.

The Mariners return to action this coming Thursday night, Dec. 11, when they host Division II opponent, nearby Adelphi University. The first event is set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Sue Petersen Lubow Pool.
