Drew McCarthy earned his 100th-career win and sophomore
Andrew Jung (Fairfax, Va.) scored two goals to lead the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's soccer team to a 3-0 road win against Sarah Lawrence. USMMA improved to 5-3-2 (2-1-2 Skyline) and extended its unbeaten streak to three games, while Sarah Lawrence fell to 4-6-0 (2-2-0 Skyline).

Jung scored two goals just 50 seconds apart in the first half to lead the Mariners, while freshman
Robert Derwin (East Meadow, N.Y.) also tallied a goal. Sophomore goalkeeper
Ethan Howell (Alexandria, Va.) made seven saves to post the shutout.

Sarah Lawrence had the first on-target shot of the game in the 6th minute, but Howell made the save. Howell added a save in the 11th minute and stopped yet another shot in the 21st minute.

USMMA, meanwhile, was off-target on its first six shot attempts, but took advantage of its first on-target effort in the 22nd minute as Jung put the Mariners up 1-0 with a goal from 15-yards out.

Exactly 50 seconds later, Jung found the back of the net yet again. After a pass from freshman
Blake Landreneau (LaFayette, La.), Jung made it 2-0 with a goal from the edge of the 18-yard box.

After Derwin had a shot saved in the 30th minute, Howell made his fourth save of the game in the 42nd minute and the score remained 2-0 at the break.

The Gryphons tested Howell again in the 51st minute, but the USMMA keeper made the save. Howell stopped another shot in the 64th minute and made yet another save in the 65th minute.

USMMA, meanwhile, was held without a second-half shot until the 75th minute when junior
Jack Ouellette (Alexandria, Va.) was denied.

The Mariners then extended their lead to 3-0 in the 78th minute. After a corner kick from junior
John Germain (Cornwall, N.Y.), Derwin found the back of the net from 10-yards out at the right post.

The Mariners return to action on Friday, Oct. 4, hosting Old Westbury for a 7 p.m. game at Tomb Field.
