The Mariners dominated the face-off circle on the night with Jason Rupli (Washington, D.C.) going 9-for-10 on restarts and freshman Ramsey Stark (Colorado Springs, Colo.) winning five of his seven draws. The defensive unit combined to cause six turnovers with six different Mariners each compiling one CT on the stat sheet. In cage, Julian Garcia (Lakeway, Texas) earned the win after a workmanlike first half with two saves and only one goal allowed. Fellow freshman Joseph Montazella (Lyme, Conn.) and senior Coby Schwartz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished out the game in net for the Mariners.

Behr opened the game with three consecutive goals in the first five minutes of play as USMMA built up a 9-0 lead after one quarter of play. Though the offensive output slowed down in the second quarter, Merchant Marine would lead 14-1 as Emerick beat the first-half buzzer with a goal following Purchase's first tally from Charley Jimenez. Meyer tallied all four of his goals in the fourth quarter as part of a 5-0 run for USMMA to close out the contest.
