DeTommaso had a first-quarter hat trick in collecting the first three goals of the contest for the Mariners, including the game's opening tally with just sixteen seconds off the clock. The sophomore's third goal with six minutes remaining in the opening frame was followed immediately by a USMMA face-off win from classmate Jason Rupli (Washington, D.C.), leading to Diehl's goal to give the Mariners a 4-0 lead.
Mount Saint Mary scored three of the next five goals to bring the deficit down to a 6-3 margin but Collins's tally in the final seconds of the first half provided the swing of momentum to keep the game in firm control the visiting side. KP would score seven goals in the second half and keep the Knights from getting an attempt past Garcia in the final thirty minutes of play. USMMA outshot the opposition by a 47-21 margin and went 16-for-20 in the face-off circle while also posting a perfect 13-for-13 on clear attempts in the win.
The Mariners return home to Brooks Stadium on Wednesday, April 17 for an evening contest against Purchase College. Opening face-off is set for 7 p.m. Live stats and a live video feed of the game will be available with links on the USMMA Men's Lacrosse Schedule Page!
