BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2024) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's volleyball team took care of business in straight-sets on Tuesday night in a Skyline Conference showdown with Sarah Lawrence College, 25-20, 25-16, 25-14. The victory improved the Mariners' record to 12-6 (5-2 Skyline), while the Gryphons fell to 14-6 (6-2 Skyline) in defeat.

Freshman Sydney Douglas (Herndon, Va.) and senior Virginia Robert (Lynchburg, Va.) both recorded a team-best eight kills, with Douglas doing so on .400 hitting to go along with 11 digs, and Robert adding 12 digs herself.
 
Both sophomore Alexa Tipps (Palmdale, Calif.) and freshman Kylie Creech (Osceola, Ind.) had 14 assists. Tipps added three service aces. Freshman Jenny Dyke (Grand Rapids, Mich.) led all players on the night with four blocks and junior Stephanie Schatzman (Virginia Beach, Va.) produced a match-high 16 digs.
 
For SLC, Athena Kazos led all players with 11 kills to go along with a team-best 13 digs and Valerie Hertig had a match-high 19 assists.
 
Up next, the Mariners host non-conference Baruch College this Thursday night, Oct. 24, beginning at 7 p.m. inside the Liebertz Gymnasium.
