BRONX, N.Y. (Oct. 12, 2024) – Freshman
Sydney Douglas (Herndon, Va.) recorded a double-double to lead the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's volleyball team to a road sweep (25-18, 25-19, 25-19) over Skyline Conference foe Mount St. Vincent on Saturday afternoon up at the Dolphins' Sharp Center Gymnasium. The win improved the Mariners' record to 10-5 (3-1 Skyline), while UMSV fell to 3-10 (0-5 Skyline) in defeat.

Douglas led all players in the match with 12 kills, hitting at a .308 clip, while also picking up 11 digs and serving up three aces. Sophomore
Erin Stillinger (Keller, Texas) added eight kills on a team-best .400 hitting percentage. Freshmen
Jenny Dyke (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and
Maddie Mayer (Centennial, Colo.) finished the day with seven kills apiece and were both a part of three blocks each.

Kylie Creech (Osceola, Ind.) dished out a match-best 26 assists, while sophomore
Alexa Tipps (Palmdale, Calif.) contributed 14 helpers. Junior libero
Stephanie Schatzman (Virginia Beach, Va.) led all players with 25 digs over the three sets.

The Dolphins were led offensively by grad student Melanieann Broderick and junior Reilly Nichtern, who both put down eight kills. Nichtern also picked up a team-best 11 digs, while senior Lydia Aryee produced 12 assists.

The Mariners return home this coming Tuesday night, Oct. 15, for a home Skyline match against Farmingdale State beginning at 7 p.m. inside the Liebertz Gymnasium.
