KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 6, 2023) – U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's volleyball head coach
Tony Nocera earned his first victory at Kings Point on Wednesday night, as the Mariners defeated visiting Brooklyn College in straight sets, 25-21, 25-13, 25-16, inside a raucous Liebertz Gymnasium. The win improved the Mariners' record to 1-2 on the season, while the Bulldogs open their 2023 campaign 0-1.

Meredith Buchanan (Kathleen, Ga.) once again led the way as she picked up her second double-double of the season, leading all players with 10 kills while also tying for the match-high with 10 digs and serving up four service aces. Freshman setter
Alexa Tipps (Palmdale, Calif.) dished out 25 assists and also had four aces, while classmate
Erin Stillinger (Keller, Texas) put down six kills on a team-best .357 hitting percentage.

For Brooklyn, Sydney Gdanski produced a team-best six kills and three aces, while Ashley Fung tied Buchanan for the most digs on the night with 10. Katia Mercado recorded five assists.

The Mariners travel to Wayne, N.J. this Saturday, Sept. 9, for a tri-match hosted by William Paterson against the host Pioneers at 11 a.m. and the Drew University Rangers at 1p.m. Live links to follow along will be posted on
