NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (April 28, 2023) – The USMMA track & field teams performed well coming off their highly successful Skyline Championship performances, competing hard at the Blue Devils Invite hosted by Central Connecticut State.

The Mariners men finished tied for fourth place with the UCONN Club Track and Field team with 55 points apiece, trailing only CCSU, Hartford, and American International.

Konnor Bye (Liberty Hill, Texas) scored 18 all by his lonesome, PRing for gold with a 6.75m long jump and securing second in the triple jump at 13.40m.

Isaac Clark (Weddington, N.C.) was just two points off Bye's pace, bringing in 16 points via a first-place finish in the 1,500m (3:58.16 – PR) plus the bronze in the 3,000m (8:43.53).

Rounding out the medalists was
Corey Haney (Medina, Ohio), launching himself over the 3.70m bar in the pole vault to capture third.

Isaiah Sims (Sunnyvale, Texas) scored on two separate occasions, setting a personal-record for his 22.72-second 200m (fifth) and running the 100m in a speed of 11.33 (seventh).

Nathan Fields (Westminster, Md.) (13.80 in shot put – PR) and
Jason Healey (King George, Va.) (52.64 in 400m) both came in sixth,
Lance Clemons (Westlake, Ohio) (1:57.33 in 800m – PR) logged seventh, and
Blake Giannamore (Portland, Texas) (54.24 in 400m) went eighth for the complete list of scorers.

Six other Blue and Gray student-athletes on the men's side notched new benchmarks including
Arthur Dozier's (Southampton, N.J.) 100m (12.63),
Alex Burita's (Annandale, Va.) 800m (2:03.36),
Ben Anastasoff's (Litchfield Park, Ariz.) (4:28.31) and
Michael Lyon's (Jacksonville, Fla.) 1,500m (4:32.34),
Silas Glynn's (Folsom, Calif.) 3,000m (9:03.65), plus
Caleb Scheopner's (Sahuarita, Ariz.) long jump (5.47m).

The ladies put 30 points on the scoreboard, besting Lehman, Queensborough Community College, and CCNY.

Kira Porzio (Palo Cedro, Calif.) matched her outdoor Academy record in the high jump from the Coach Omeltchenko Invite earlier this month, once again clearing 1.70m for first place.

Stephanie Schatzman (Virginia Beach, Va.) went five-seven in the triple (9.34m) and long jumps (4.42m), in that order while
Katherine Kerchner (Reading, Pa.) placed five-seven during the 400 hurdles (1:17.57) and 3,000m run (11:43.43), respectively.

Shea Curran (Kellogg, Idaho) might need to try out the slot machines as she registered a pair of seventh places, tossing the discus a personal-best 34.06m and lurching the shot put forward 10.73m.

Jasper Schineller (Tempe, Arizona) claimed two PRs, scoring a fourth slot allotment for the 400m (1:02.96) as well as in the 200m (28.35).
