BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Feb. 15, 2023) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's basketball team stepped out of Skyline Conference action on Wednesday night and handily defeated Pratt Institute, 81-25, to extend its win-streak to 11 games. The Mariners' record improves to 21-2 overall, while the Cannoneers fall to 1-22 in defeat.

USMMA did not allow Pratt to score in double-figures in any of the four quarters, as the Mariners earned their largest margin of victory of the season – 56 points.
 
Junior Bryanne Buchanan-Cummings (Dacula, Ga.) recorded a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, matching her career-high for rebounds in a game. Senior Lauren Hunter (Tinley Park, Ill.) led all players with 21 points, while also grabbing down six boards and classmate Madison Demos (Downers Grove, Ill.) contributed in a few categories with 14 points, seven boards and a game-high six assists.
 
For Pratt, all of the Cannoneers' scoring came from three players – senior Kinako Miyake led the way with 11 points, sophomore Kylie Grant added 10 points and nearly had a double-double with a team-best nine rebounds, and sophomore Almudena Valenzuela chipped in with four points.
 
The Mariners close out the regular season this Saturday, Feb. 18, at home against Old Westbury on Senior Day. Tipoff is scheduled for 12-noon at the Liebertz Gymnasium. Prior to the game, the USMMA women's basketball program will pay tribute to its four graduating seniors with a special Senior Day ceremony.
