NEW YORK (Oct. 5, 2023) – The USMMA women's volleyball team earned its third victory of the week and second in as many nights with a 3-0 road sweep of non-conference opponent Baruch College on Thursday night in Manhattan. With the win, the Mariners move to .500 on the season at 7-7, while the Bearcats fall to 5-7 with the loss.

Senior Brittany Breland (Bryan, Texas) picked up her second-straight double-double with a match-high 12 kills to go along with 10 digs. She also served up three aces which tied for the match-best with freshman Erin Stillinger (Keller, Texas). Senior Meredith Buchanan (Kathleen, Ga.) had 10 kills and two blocks, freshman setter Alexa Tipps (Palmdale, Calif.) produced 33 digs and sophomore libero Stephanie Schatzman (Virginia Beach, Va.) led all players on the night with 18 digs.
 
Junior Virginia Robert (Lynchburg, Va.) put down seven kills on a .500 hitting percentage and also added five digs, while junior Amy Jones (Roscoe, Ill.) and Stillinger both recorded five kills apiece, with Jones also registering a pair of assisted blocks. Rounding out the offense, junior Elizabeth Kay (Charleston, W.Va.) finished the night with three kills.
 
For the Bearcats, freshman Pei Qiong Ren and junior Delaney Killeen both had five kills apiece, while Qiong Ren also picked up a team-best 12 digs. Freshman Karen Castro dished out 16 assists.
 
Up next, the Mariners travel to rival SUNY Maritime College next Tuesday, Oct. 10, for a Tomb Trophy matchup against the Privateers.
