KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Oct. 19, 2023) – The USMMA women's volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with a 3-0 victory over Skyline foe Mount St. Mary on Thursday night, 25-22, 25-12, 27-25. The win was the Mariners' eighth straight and improved their record to 12-7 (8-1 Skyline), while the Knights fell to 3-18 (3-3 Skyline) in defeat.
 
Prior to first serve, the Merchant Marine women's volleyball program paid tribute to its three graduating seniors – Brittany Breland (Bryan Texas), Meredith Buchanan (Kathleen, Ga.) and Amy Jones (Roscoe, Ill.) – with a special Senior Night ceremony.

Breland rose to the occasion on the night she was honored, as she put down a team-high 12 kills, while freshman Erin Stillinger (Keller, Texas) hit .818 en route to a nine-kill performance with a career-best five service aces, including three-straight in the first set.
 
Sophomore libero Stephanie Schatzman (Virginia Beach, Va.) led all players on the night with 17 digs, while Buchanan recorded 10 digs to go along with seven kills. Freshman setter Alexa Tipps (Palmdale, Calif.) set up 26 assists on the evening.
 
For the Knights, sophomore Jonaiya Williams registered a match-high 15 digs, while classmate Aubriana Boyce dished out 14 assists and freshman libero Vanessa Mleczko led the way defensively with 14 digs. Fellow freshman Allie Kenney also had a double-digit dig night with 12.
 
The Mariners will participate in a non-conference tri-match hosted by Hunter College this Saturday, Oct. 21. They will take on the host Hawks at 10 a.m. before squaring off against Ramapo College in a neutral-site match beginning at 12-noon.
