(Oct. 14, 2023) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's volleyball team extended its win-streak to six matches with a 3-0 home victory over non-conference opponent Rutgers-Newark on Saturday inside the Liebertz Gymnasium (25-11, 25-15, 25-20). The Mariners' record improves to 10-7 on the year, while the Scarlet Raiders fall to 9-9.

Brittany Breland (Bryan, Texas) added eight kills and a match-high 19 digs, while freshman
Alexa Tipps (Palmdale, Calif.) just missed out a double-double with 35 assists and eight digs, while also serving up a match-best three aces. Sophomore libero
Stephanie Schatzman (Virginia Beach, Va.) picked up 10 digs on the afternoon.
Kaiel Maynor led Rutgers-Newark with eight kills, while Angelyse Orellana dished out 15 assists and Elvin Karakaya had a team-high 13 digs.
