Volleyball Takes Care Of Business Against Yeshiva In Three Sets

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Oct. 12, 2023) – The USMMA women's volleyball team defeated visiting Yeshiva University, 3-0 (25-3, 25-13, 25-9), on Thursday night in Skyline Conference action at the Liebertz Gymnasium. With the win, the Mariners move to 9-7 (6-1 Skyline) on the year, while the Maccabees fall to 0-5 (0-4 Skyline) in defeat.
 
Match Link Senior Meredith Buchanan (Kathleen, Ga.) and freshman Erin Stillinger (Keller, Texas) both recorded double-digit kill performances, as Buchanan had 11 on .667 hitting and Stillinger put down 10 on .304 hitting.
 
Freshman Alexa Tipps (Palmdale, Calif.) led all players with 32 assists and tied classmate Sierra Richardson (Valparaiso, Ind.) for the match-high with three service aces, while senior Amy Jones (Roscoe, Ill.) contributed to the offense with seven kills on .417 hitting.
 
Junior Elizabeth Kay (Charleston, W.Va.) added five kills on .300 hitting with five assists and sophomore libero Stephanie Schatzman (Virginia Beach, Va.) tied for the match-high with six digs.
 
Yeshiva was led by sophomore Charne Lesnoy who had two kills, while senior Zoey Botnick dished out three assists and a trio of Macs tied for the match-high with six digs each – Botnick, Lesnoy and senior Moriah Berkovitch.
 
The Mariners are back in action this coming Saturday, Oct. 14, when they host non-conference opponent Rutgers-Newark at 3 p.m. at the Liebertz Gymnasium. Live stats and a live video feed the match is available with links on the USMMA Women's Volleyball Schedule Page.
