KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 3, 2022) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's soccer team continued their hot start to their inaugural season by defeating visiting Alverno College, 9-0, on Saturday evening at Brooks Stadium. The game was played in front of many of the Mariners' family and friends as it closed out Parents Weekend 2022 at Kings Point.

Morgan Mitchell (Amory, Miss.) scored the first hat trick in program history, as she tallied three goals and one assist. Classmate
Emma Cox (Huntingtown, Md.) added two goals and two helpers, while senior
Cassidy Jester (Denton, Texas) scored twice and added one assist.
The Mariners also got second-half goals from sophomore
Jinae Teria (Chalan Pago, Guam) and senior
Jessica Gamsjager (Denton, Texas), both of which were the first of their respective careers. Gamsjager also added an assist on the night, as did two other players, sophomores
Natalia Gallardo (El Paso, Texas) and
Natalie Colpoys (Rochester, N.Y.).
Once again, sophomore keeper
Margaret Ripperger (McKinney, Texas) was not challenged once during the game, as she earned her second-straight shutout.
The Mariners will not play again until a week from tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 11, when they travel to Jersey City, N.J., to take on New Jersey City University. That game will begin at 1 p.m. Live stats and a live video feed of the contest will be available with links on
