CHESTER, Pa. (Oct. 8, 2022) – The USMMA women's volleyball team lost a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday at a tri-match hosted by Widener University to Stockton University and the host Pride by the same scores of 3-1. The setbacks drop the Mariners' record to 8-6 on the season.

In the opener, which the Ospreys won by the scores of 25-11, 23-25, 25-12 and 25-10, the Mariners could not find a groove offensively, as they hit just .022 in the match. Senior
Paige Smith (Virginia Beach, Va.) had a team-best eight kills, while classmate
Claire Hyun (Issaquah, Wash.) dished out 23 assists and junior
Brittany Breland (Bryan, Texas) led the way defensively with 10 digs.

The second match was a bit closer, as Widener took it in four, 25-19, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18. Junior
Meredith Buchanan (Kathleen, Ga.) had a team-high 13 kills and Hyun recorded 26 assists. Defensively, senior
Skyler Burnham (Reading, Pa.) picked up a team-best 17 digs, while Smith registered 11 digs.
